Southwest names aviation veteran Gangwal as board chairperson

Southwest Airlines appointed Indian-origin aviation veteran Rakesh Gangwal as its board chairman. Gangwal, the co-founder of India's Indigo Airlines, joined Southwest's board in July. This appointment comes after Southwest settled a dispute with activist investor Elliott Management. Elliott had been pushing for a board refresh and CEO Bob Jordan's removal.
