Worked hard all year? Craving for a
much-needed break? Or do you just need to charge up before starting work in
this sweltering heat? Whatever your reason may be for embarking on a holiday
this summer, we have got you covered. Don’t plan a summer holiday before
checking out our list of favorites!
Croatia
Croatia recently hit the spotlight after
multiple sequences of the popular TV drama Game of Thrones was shot here. With
its pristine beaches, rolling vineyards, historical structures and bright sun,
Croatia has something for everyone. History lovers can visit the Lovrijenac
Fortress to see the cliff top architectural wonder with terracotta rooftops. Or
they can head straight to Zagorje region which has quaint medieval castles,
vineyards and warm springs all at the same place. For the more laidback
tourist, Makarska has exclusive cruises along long stretches of beautiful
beaches.
Koh Samui, Thailand
While Bangkok takes the cake as the
shopping destination of Thailand, the quaint Koh Samui and its pristine beaches
offer a different kind of quiet holiday experience altogether. If you still
want to party, attend the Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan and dance the night
away!
Whistler, Canada
There is no place more chilled out
(literally!) than Canada to beat the heat. Whistler located in the Coast
Mountains is a great holiday destination. Spend your summer exploring the
hiking trails, going on a bear tour, or riding in the record-breaking Peak 2
Peak Gondola, which is the first lift to join the two side-by-side mountains.
It held the world record for the longest free span between ropeway towers—3.03
kilometres (1.88 miles) until 2017. Or simply take a walk down the town streets
and Witness the town’s vibrant culture. Visit the art museums and cultural
centres, dine at 21 Steps or Alta Bistro or the numerous other eateries on
offer that fit every budget and preference. Don’t forget to carry some warm
garments as it tends to get slightly chilly in the evenings.
Marseille, France
This is a beautiful port city in the heart of Provence. Its history dates to more than 1500 years. It has served an important centre of trade over the centuries and naturally has come in contact with different cultures from all over the world, leaving the city beautifully diverse and vibrant. This, coupled with its pleasant summer weather, makes Marseille a must-visit destination. While June-July is the ideal time to visit, you will be better off booking your stay in advance as this is the peak season. Some must-visit places include Notre-Dame de la Garde, Palais Longchamp, Marseille Cathedral. While you are here, do not miss Kayaking in the Old Port which used to be the hub of the city for more than 2600 years.
